The business unit will turn Meta’s AI technology into enterprise products and services
MongoDB CEO CJ Desai will serve as Meta’s Chief Enterprise Officer
Desai will report directly to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg
Meta has launched an Enterprise Platform to help global businesses adopt and scale AI. The social media giant has also appointed MongoDB CEO Chirantan “CJ” Desai as its Chief Enterprise Officer. Desai will report directly to CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The company said Meta Enterprise AI Platform will turn its AI technology into products and services that businesses can deploy across their operations.
Why is Meta Introducing an Enterprise Platform?
Through the new enterprise unit, Meta plans to tap its vast ecosystem to bring consumer technology to global business. Already, the company serves billions of consumers and hundreds of millions of businesses.
“Meta Enterprise Platform will use our strengths that few other companies have: advanced models, leading agents, large-scale infrastructure, and years of working closely with many businesses. Initially, we will focus on bringing our full technology stack, including the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, Muse Code, and more to businesses and developers to help them grow,” CEO Zuckerberg said in a website post.
Meta sets up the new business unit as Zuckerberg looks to convert the company’s stack of superintelligence into new revenue streams beyond its advertising business. The move comes days after the company unveiled a range of AI-powered products at the Connect 2026 event.
Why Does Enterprise AI Matter to Meta?
Desai’s appointment comes as the social giant accelerates its move into enterprise AI, having invested billions of dollars into new AI infrastructure, tools and services. Meta is counting on CJ Desai’s industry relationships to build partnerships and expand the range of Meta enterprise tools.
"CJ is an experienced enterprise leader with a track record of building full-stack software and delivering results in AI, infrastructure, business applications, and security," Zuckerberg added.
Meta is facing growing pressure from investors who want to see its significant AI spending translate to strong business returns. This year, the company’s expected capital spending stands at $145 billion, with a significant share supporting data centers and advanced AI models. Last week, Meta’s stock gained over 20% after Muse AI agent revenue potential excited investors.
Meta introduced the Muse AI agent on September 8. Downloads for the AI agent app reached 2.5 million in the first 12 days of launching, overtaking OpenAI’s ChatGPT on iOS.
The new unit could position the company as a stronger competitor in enterprise AI, which Anthropic and Google have had an early entry. However, its success will largely depend on how well the company turns its technology into widely used solutions.
Impact of Desai’s MongoDB Exit
News about Desai’s exit as MongoDB’s CEO triggered a 20% drop in the company’s stock. Meta shares also dipped 4% on September 28. MongoDB announced that Ittucheria will take over as the company’s interim CEO.
Ittycheria served as the company for 11 years before exiting in November 2025 following Desai’s appointment. Prior to joining MongoDB, Desai worked at Cloudflare as president of product and engineering.
