AI Company Anthropic Reportedly Close to $170B Valuation in New Funding Round

The artificial intelligence company Anthropic is closing a funding round that could be worth $5 billion and will value the company at $170 billion, Bloomberg reported. Sources familiar with the matter suggest that Anthropic's fresh capital could reach $5 billion in this latest funding round. Investment firm Iconiq Capital will lead the funding round, enabling Anthropic to raise between $3 billion and $5 billion, according to a source familiar with the matter. Iconiq is also in discussions to contribute around $1 billion to the round, said multiple people with knowledge of the deal.

One more person said that the AI startup is also in talks with the Qatar Investment Authority and Singapore’s sovereign investment fund GIC to participate in the round.

This latest funding round would represent a substantial increase in the company's worth and solidify its position among the top AI development firms globally. Earlier this year, Anthropic hit a $61.5 billion valuation through a $3.5 billion investment round spearheaded by Lightspeed Venture Partners.
