Anthropic Agrees to Open Claude Mythos to EU’s Cyber Agency

Anthropic is set to give the European Union access to its powerful cybersecurity AI model, Claude Mythos Preview. The terms and conditions under which the regional block will access Mythos have not been clarified yet. Anthropic grants the EU access to Mythos after weeks of discussions with the European Commission.

Anthropic to Grant ENISA Access to Mythos

Anthropic invited the EU to access Mythos AI formally following a meeting with the Commission on May 28, 2026. A report by Bloomberg shows that access to Mythos will be granted to the bloc’s cybersecurity agency, the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA).

Last week, the EU said it planned to initiate discussions about Mythos access with the U.S. government. The AI firm confirmed that the EU had put in place proper security guardrails to access its cybersecurity model.

Anthropic introduced Claude Mythos Preview in April 2026. The AI developer warned that the new model could outperform humans in identifying and exploiting software vulnerabilities. Following its release, Mythos sparked hacking fears on mission critical systems if accessed by adverseries. Experts also advised caution when interpreting its vulnerability results.

Why is the EU Seeking Access to Mythos?

The EU wants to access Mythos to mitigate cybersecurity risks. So far, access to the model has not granted the EU or any other government agency outside of the U.S., except the AI Security Institute in the U.K.

Political leaders in the EU and government officials have been pushing for access to the advanced AI model. EU regulators, banks, and operators of critical infrastructure in the region want to use Mythos to identify and fix software vulnerabilities to reduce hacking risks.

But as the EU seeks to leverage Anthropic’s Mythos cybersecurity AI model, there are calls for the region to develop its own tools.

"This latest development is of utmost importance to get a clear picture on the potential risks. Let’s not forget that Mythos is not one off, a new wave of powerful models are coming to the market,” Regnier added.

Regnier added that cybersecurity is a shared challenge and that the regional bloc is intensifying discussions with partners such as the United States. Last month, OpenAI allowed partners in the EU to access the Cyber AI model in limited preview capacity.

Unlike OpenAI, Anthropic had limited Mythos Preview access to selected partners under its cybersecurity initiative. In addition to the EU, the AI developer will be granting three Japanese mega banks access to Mythos this month.

What Next for the EU?

ENISA does not have access to Mythos yet. However, an official in the EU agency said that it is working towards getting access. The European Commission is already developing an action plan to enable it to respond to advanced hacking tools. Industry officials say the action plan could be released before the summer.
