Google has made significant changes to its AI research divisions to accelerate progress in the field of artificial intelligence. The company has announced that it will merge Google Brain and Alphabet’s DeepMind.

The new unit, Google DeepMind, will be led by Demis Hassabis, who will act as the CEO and take on the elevated role of Google's Chief Scientist. Effectively Demis will serve as Chief Scientist to Google Research and Google DeepMind.
